Father Ted Crilly,(played by Dermot Morgan)adored by his parishoners and hated by the Bishop.Ted is the only normal priest
on the Island and the only practicing priest.He's the one all the parishiners come to and the one the Bishop speaks to when
he comes to give the priests a bollocking.
Although the viewers aren't given too much information on his background its sort of assumed Ted has been sent to this remote
almost deserted Island to be punished or paid back by Bishop Brennan.
The Bishop once told Ted that he was here to stay on the Island until all the money was paid back from the "Lourdes thing".From
what we understand Ted stole money from a Lourdes trip (which was held in order to raise money for a sick child)and went to
Las Vegas.
Ted has always been a big day dreamer.We often see him fantasing about being in Las Vegas with hordes of woman around him.He's
a simple priest who basically just wants respect from his parishoners and some intelligent conversation from his housemates.
Not a major problem for Ted one might think,but Teds housemates Father Dougal Maguire, Father Jack Hackett and Mrs Doyle are
far from anyones ideal housemates.
Ted was played by Dermot Morgan for the full three seasons.The day after filming had wrapped on series 3,Dermot and the rest
of the cast were having a celebratory dinner and Dermot had a massive heart attack and died.He was loved in Ireland and in
England.He was without doubt one of the best comedians/actors to come out of Ireland.
