Father Jack Hackett

"Dont tell me I'm still on that fecking Island"

Father Jack is portrayed as a crude,disgusting,perverted alcoholic.He is played by Irish actor Frank Kelly.

Father Jack doesn't actually talk much except to demand Drink.We know he is an old fashioned priest.Ted once stated that a friend of his studied under Father Jack and the friend said Father Jack was a great believer in discipline (the show cuts to a scene of Jack in the old days beating the bejesus of a young boy with a hurl).

When there is no drink available in the house Jack will drink floor polish,toilet duck and basically anything that has a kick in it.At one point he was pronounced dead after he drank Floor polish and he later resurrected from the dead in the morgue.

He is a fantastic money saver.He doesn't wear pants in the summer to save money on wear and tare and he also wont give money to charity.He can tell the difference between a bottle of wine by just the clinking sound of a bottle.

We believe Jack was also sent to the Island like Ted to be punished for his drinking,so a way of escaping this remote island is to drink himself unconscious ,which is why we usually see him unconscious on his chair in the corner,only to wake up every now and then to call out for Drink and Girls.

Although its never been said in the show we get the feeling that Jack is a bit of a perverted priest.We have seen him asleep dreaming of his old days in the priesthood telling the nuns to tell their students (which were all girls) that their was no need for them to wear their tops because it was very hot outside.We've also seen him being a judge for a wet T-Shirt competition for girls demanding more water.

We only see Jack sober once when Ted hides all his drink for lent.Jack can't understand what has happened but eventually realizes that he's still on that fecking island,at which point he screams and runs through the sitting room window.

Jack can be incredibly violent as we often see him punching Ted in the face,but he can be playful too.He once hid in the bath waiting for Ted to get undressed and then he clipped two clothes pegs onto Teds nipples.

Yes,Jack gives a bad name to old Irish priest but he does add alot of comedy............
